ILLUSTRATION, DESIGN, and MURALS by MADDIE KENNEDY
rescue baptist church
Commissioned in 2015 by Pastor Willie T. Bland and his wife, Sandra Bland for the 40th year anniversary of the Rescue Baptist Church. It is a representation of the past, present, and future with the first Rescue Baptist Church on the left, leading to the current Church in the middle with Pastor Bland on the right, still leading the Church to this day. The wall is 53 ft wide and 8 ft tall.
chocolate city salon
Commissioned by Janice Willis in 2015, the owner of Chocolate City Salon. Willis wanted something that was modern and correlated to her Salon, while also having the actual Salon in the mural. This was a creative problem solving solution to the problem that the Salon had limited space to paint and the placement of the mural was done so to create an extra layer of depth to the Salon itself. The wall is 33 ft long and 5 1/2 ft tall.
rose brooks center
Part of my internship with Rose Brooks Center's Paws Place Program in 2015 with Zoe Agnew-Svoboda the Program Coordinator. I collaborated with Zoe to come up with a jungle design for the Cat Room at Rose Brooks Center that would create the illusion of space but also was entertaining for the cats as well as the residents. Which means the cats sometimes try to attack the mural because they think the animals and insects in it are real! Each wall is 9 3/4 ft long and 5 1/2 ft tall.
truman medical center
A student-lead collaborative mural of the ocean floor for the ICU Waiting Room at Truman Medical Center. It serves as a soothing imagery for those who must spend time in the waiting room of a hospital. The canvas mural is 12 ft wide and 5 fit tall, created in 2014.
